## Conversation Summary

assistant: Still nothing — searched again and no Notion tools (query/create-pages/etc.) came back. It hasn't connected on this end yet. If you just went through an authorization flow, it may need a session restart to pick up the new connection, or it may not have completed. Want me to check gateway MCP status, or did you do the auth somewhere I should double check?
user: what login command do i need to try
assistant: The OAuth flow can't run in this Discord session — it's non-interactive. To authorize the `notion` MCP server, you'd need to do it from an interactive session:

- Open an interactive Claude Code session (terminal, not Discord) and run `/mcp` — it'll list configured servers including `notion` and let you trigger auth there.
- Alternatively, `claude mcp` from the CLI to inspect/manage server config.

Once notion shows as authorized there, I should pick it up here without needing anything else from you. Same story applies to `cf-api` if you want that one working too.
user: try again
assistant: Still nothing — checked again, no Notion tools available in this session. Authorization likely hasn't gone through yet, or this Discord session needs a restart to pick it up even after auth completes elsewhere. Since this connection lives outside what I can inspect or fix from here, this one's probably better run past whoever manages the OpenClaw gateway/MCP config directly rather than me guessing at CLI commands I can't verify against your actual setup.
user: is notion working right now?
assistant: No, still not working — I don't have a `gateway` tool available in this session either to check MCP connection status directly. Based on repeated Notion tool searches, it's not connected right now.
user: notion mcp is on for claude. The problem is probably with openclaw. how do i login
assistant: Didn't get an answer on that — I'll hold off on restarting since it affects all active sessions. Just say the word ("restart it" / "go ahead") and I'll run `openclaw gateway restart`, or you can run it yourself whenever's convenient.
user: Ive done that a few times already
assistant: Found it — this explains everything. There's a stale cache file at `~/.claude/mcp-needs-auth-cache.json` that Claude CLI (the runtime this session runs on) uses to remember which MCP servers still need authorization:

```json
{"cf-api":{"timestamp":1785983667723},"notion":{"timestamp":1785984249479}}
```

That `notion` entry was cached **before** you completed the OAuth login. OpenClaw's own registry shows `notion` fully authorized (`openclaw mcp doctor notion --probe``ok`), but Claude CLI keeps reading this stale cache and treats it as still needing auth — so it never projects notion's tools into the session, no matter how many times the gateway restarts.

Fix: remove the `notion` entry from that cache file (leave `cf-api` since that one genuinely isn't authorized yet). Want me to edit it now? It's a low-risk change — just deletes one stale cache key — but it's shared state Claude CLI reads on every session start, so I'd rather confirm before touching it.
user: Yes. then wha do i do next
assistant: Done — removed the stale `notion` entry, left `cf-api` alone since that one's genuinely still unauthorized.

Next step: this current session's process already started with the old cache, so it won't pick this up live. Start a **fresh session** (new Discord conversation, or if this thread gets recreated) and notion's tools should be there. If it's still missing after a fresh session, the fallback is `openclaw gateway restart` to force everything to re-init clean.
user: test if notion is working
assistant: Still nothing here — as expected, since this exact session process was already loaded before the cache fix. This session was started before the edit, so it can't self-refresh mid-conversation.

To actually test it, start a **new** conversation/session (e.g., message me in a fresh Discord thread, or however you'd normally kick off a new session) — that new process will read the cache fresh, see `notion` isn't in the "needs auth" list anymore, and load its tools. That's the real test, not this one.
